Colin has reinvented himself into the Exorcist baby. He is having extreme withdraw from all the narcotic. They have started him on an Ativan, Methadone taper. Hopefully this works. Dan and I have started shift work with Colin, so that he is never alone. He seems to recognize us and says a few words before falling back to sleep.
The ENT team was just in. They will be moving Colin out of the PICU and onto their floor today. We hope later today we will start to try to eat by mouth. This will make Colin extremely happy since he keeps trying to pull out his feeding tube. He is even trying to be tricky about this by rubbing his nose on the the pillows to move it.
I have to say even with all the drugs and surgery Colin's personality still comes through. He is a fighter. There is no doubt about that.
I will keep you posted through out the day and Dan with his humor will be posting through the night.
Please keep your thoughts and prayers coming that he continues to do so well and that feeding is not an issue. If it continues to go like this there is a slim possibility that we could be home next week.........
With Love ,
Nicole
PS. Please keep not only Colin, but all sick children in your thoughts and prayers. Coming to this hospital and the Ronald McDonald House has been an extremely humbling experience. Thank God every day that you have healthy children. There are families we have met that will probably not walk out of this hospital with their child. Even Dan and I are lucky that Colin is healthy and a fighter and we will be bringing him home.
